I recently worked with Roma Moulding, providing the voiceover in the production of this video in which they explain what makes their moulding, their company, and their ethic so special.

While mostly an audio/post production, music and voiceover guy, I enjoy working with video too. My friend Mindy Conklin at HCB2 (Hitting Cancer Below The Belt) asked me to produce a promo for a scholarship program HCB2 is doing as part of their “Can We Talk” initiative to raise young people’s awareness about colorectal cancer and prevention. Mindy is awesome and the work she’s doing is important. She lost her husband Rich to colorectal cancer several years ago. She also hosts the HCB2 “Fight Right” podcast which you can check out here. And Find out more and support HCB2 here. #guthealth #cancerawareness
I voiced this trailer for an Amazon Video apocalypse flick called “The Last” a while ago. So it’s, you know, FUN! Just recently heard back from the client that it was finally greenlighted. Such is Hollywood, or Atlanta, or wherever they’re making movies these days. Which is just about everywhere as production companies and studios seek out higher incentives and lower taxes.
I drove Ford trucks for years while I was in high school and college. Life and responsibility dictated that I transition into passenger cars that could accommodate a car seat for babies and little kids. A Bronco could have served both purposes. It was a blast working on this voiceover project for Ford as they re-introduce the iconic Bronco with the help of none other than Jay Leno. The segment I voiced is at 6:24.
You can record audio files for each participant on a Zoom call. It’s great for when you want to import each participant’s file into a DAW session and process tracks individually.
Send your vocal track to your music track inside a compressor to allow the vocals and the music to sit in the mix together. It’s like the “pumping” effect used in music when you have a kick drum bringing down the overall music level in order to stand out.
Today’s production tip is for renaming regions in Pro Tools using keyboard shortcuts and what to do if at first the shortcut doesn’t respond. There’s always a reason for little things like this. I recently set up a new computer and all my settings were wiped out, and I’m still finding little gremlins in my workflow. Been there? Thought so.
One reason I love being a voice actor is that you come in contact with so many interesting people and subjects. You get to learn so much about stuff you might not otherwise. Synack is a world leader in cybersecurity. In order to be the best at what they do they send their professional hackers that look for vulnerabilities in their software to hacking competitions around the world. They want only the best on their team. I didn’t even know that was a thing!
The producer on this project for Battleface Travel Insurance wanted a movie trailer delivery with a little self-awareness and a touch of tongue-in-cheekiness. Far be it from me to miss out on a chance to be movie trailer guy.
THIS.. was a blast. I’ve voiced a few things for the Bison Boys. I’m thankful for all my clients, but occasionally you really connect with the attitude, the performance, the ethos. Check it out.
